Sky Watch Friday # 18

Some sky shots captured this week.

Immediatly before sunrice ( CET 04.00)

The King`s ship "Norge"

A little piece of the King`s farm at Bygdøy.

Oslo fjord

Heggholmen Lighthouse Station.

Heggholmen lighthouse stands at the end of an ashlar jetty by Heggholmen, innermost in the Oslo Fjord. The Swiss-style wooden lighthouse has one and a half stories. The station has a corner light with a 6th order lens and a tower for the fog bell on the roof, plus a nautophone. The lighthouse station includes the jetty, lighthouse building with side wing and pier. The lighthouse forms a part of the island and harbour environment of the inner Oslo Fjord. The lighthouse station lies in an area regulated as a special area for preservation.Heggholmen lighthouse station, with its richly decorated Swiss-style building, has a costly and refined character that distinguishes it from most other wooden lighthouses. Its location in the inner Oslo Fjord means that the lighthouse station is also of important environmental significance. Although the actual bell is missing, the bell-tower and parts of the mechanism to the fog bell are still intact and of interest in the context of lighthouse technology.

Wow, it was nice to visit Norway, thanks for sharing.. "Immediately before sunrice" looks like that mist'd be resting on top of the city. In some of the photos your sky is nicely curved :) (White peacocks, well I never!)

So many photos - the peacock is tremendous and I love the reflections in the last one but my favourite is the one of Heggholmen - so great to see it in detail and close up after my misty view two years ago.

Du har virkelig mange bra her!

Flott bilde du har lagt inn i headeren her!
Hilsen from over here;)

* Du har jo blitt så internasjonal her nå, at stakkars Kræstine Nordmann nesten ikke henger med i svingene..hihi

I always had a desire to see Norway but it seemed purely instinctual - just a feeling. I can see from your work that it was a good feeling.
I am never going to visit but I can use you as a surrogate.

Stunning photo essay, John - the third shot was my favourite. You have a beautiful country.

The King's yacht looks a lot like the former British royal yacht, Britannia ....

Louis la Vache said...

"Louis's" favorite photo in this group is that of the Norge. It looks as if the King's yacht is about the same size as the Potomac used by Franklin Roosevelt.

Anonymous said...

Wow John, all your photos are worthy to be put in a book! I like each one. The white peacock is amazing...

All are quite beautiful - Haugfoss - Modum even more so!

Thanks for popping by! It's appreciated!

Bygdøy eller Ladeøen som vi sier, er helt fantastisk.Plasseringe av horisonten gjorde underverker.
Dessuten måtte jeg se lenge på det siste for å se at det ikke var rotert. Ringene i vannet ble ledetråden

I went over to your other blog first and love the macro shots. I'm a big fan of macro. On both I love the sizing of your photos, really brings out the details and clarity much better. The fog that looks to be moving in on your sunrise picture is otherworldly. I really love all of them and enjoyed seeing your part of the world. Your header is breathtaking!
