I would be wondering what lens you have. I have had f2.8 lenses and couldn't do this as well. I know I can't with a f4.0 lens with the camera on a tripod and slowing the shutting speed down and setting the ISO speed way up. I look for blurs or movement and see very little of that so the time must have been pretty fast.

Wonderful evening photographs, did you use a long exposure? I note in the first photo the people are not blurred so it must have been quite short.
